How it works:

played scale — each note in the recording is pitch-tracked, sliced to its own file, and named for its nearest equal-tempered note. Its deviation in cents becomes that interval's scale OFFSET.
static overtones — the sustained sound's harmonic series is measured; each partial lands on a scale interval carrying its deviation from equal temperament.
exported samples are pre-tuned to equal temperament, so when the M8 scale re-applies the offsets, samples and synths sound the recording's intonation together — nothing gets detuned twice.
drop the .m8n into /Scales on the SD card (USB Drive mode, FW 6.5+), then load it from the scale screen.
the sample zip also carries a .m8i sampler instrument per wav; copy the zip's folder into /Samples and the instruments find their samples immediately.
the spectral view's brightness is normalized to the recording's own peak, so even quiet material shows at full contrast. Marks: cemetery green = detected pitch lines, violet dashes = the equal-tempered target each note is pulled onto.
offsets are relative to the chosen KEY — set the same key on the M8.
